A Fire Watch on a six-story downtown apartment is a different job than a Fire Watch on a 300,000-square-foot warehouse near the Port. Downtown work is interval-driven and stair-heavy, with occupant contact and exit verification at the center of it. Port and Tideflats work is about distance: long perimeters, hot work zones, rack storage, and equipment that has to be checked without slowing production. Our Officers are briefed for the property in front of them, not a generic checklist.
Documentation an inspector can use
Tacoma Fire will ask for the log. Our Officers record each pass with a timestamp, the area covered, the Officer's name, and any hazards observed or corrected, and a Supervisor reviews the record before it reaches you. If the impairment stretches across shifts, the log stays continuous, which is exactly what the authority having jurisdiction wants to see when the system is put back in service.
When Fire Watch turns into ongoing coverage
Tacoma properties that experience one impairment often have other exposures — copper theft at construction sites, overnight trespass in parking structures, after-hours alarm response. Pairing the Fire Watch with a GPS-verified Mobile Patrol or a standing On-site Officer usually costs less than repeated emergency deployments, and it keeps the same Officers on the property who already know the layout.
