What the Officer actually does on watch
A Fire Watch post is not a chair by the door. The Officer walks the assigned area on the interval the Fire Marshal specifies, checks for smoke, heat, and ignition sources, verifies that exits and stairwells are clear, confirms that extinguishers are in place and charged, and knows exactly how to initiate evacuation and call 911 if conditions change. Every pass is documented with time, location, and observations, producing the auditable log an inspector will ask for.
